So we decided to go to the zoo this past weekend (Aug 18th) as Dave was at Drill. Ty helped me dress Jake and learned what an adventure that can be. I think I'm going to have to try his method - sitting on the boy!

We packed up - me, Ty and Jake that is and headed off to the Animal Kingdom. If you've never been to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo - it is great. Ty goes to camp there every summer, we go at Christmas for all of the lights and to hear the Lion roar at night - apparently does this every night before bed, and any other time that we can make it. :) The giraffes are lots of fun as they are hungry all of the time and have really rough tongues.

Ty loves to feed them. They've got 2 babies right now which was fun to see. This wasn't Jake's first time there and it definitely won't be his last. He's such a happy camper in his stroller that it's at least non-stressful pushing him around. He just takes in the sites while you do all the walking. Our zoo is more of a workout, though, than a leisurely trek. It's on the side of a mountain - Cheyenne Mountain, it's namesake.

On top of that, add Jake in his stroller - all 18 pounds, my purse and a diaper bag and boy it was more than a workout! :) He stays cool while you work hard walking up and down all of the hills. Ty is a great guide as all his camps have helped him know where everything is. And as many times as we go there he never tires of seeing the animals. Kind of makes me wonder if we have a vet in the making? He is inquisitive and ready to conquer any challenge.

The zoo never disappoints. Our favorite animals this time were the hippos, who were in the water tank playing with a ball, and the mama and baby gorilla, who were out and about walking and eating a snack.
